Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Morning Pondies.... We have a new dog. My son has been wanting a new dog since our Rosie passed.

Of course I was for it but was worried about grandma in a physical sense and also if she would be accepting... He talked to grandma and it was game on.

His criteria was under thirty pounds family dog.... Which meant Chihuahua crosses... We drove all the way to Oceanside shelter to see a ChiPom.... Chihuahua Pomeranian.... Oh she was cute and Busy and a BARKER.... Thankfully another family was coming back to adopt her. (most our shelthers are no kill)

After that trek I told Dean he had free rein to pick out a dog. So he went off to Escondido yesterday... We had seen a few with great descriptions on the website... I fell in love with a Swissie cross.... So pretty and sweet faced. A bit too big at 50 pounds. Sigh.

Its his dog so I figured what ever but I set my foot down on pitbulls. I know they can and are wonderful dogs in the right hands but just a casual bounce off one of them could cause grandma a tumble.

He came back with Swissie girl named Brandy.... Oh my goodness is she sweet and quiet and very very shy. I can deal with shy my last dog was a shy girl. Shes not quite as big as the website too. She looks an awfull lot like a English Shepherd too.

Shes six years old almost seven. Her first owners had her with goats and other livestock. But someone introduced a German Shepherd in the family and it attacked her and shredded her up.... They couldnt afford vet bills so they sent her to the humane society.... They patched her up and treated her and rehabbed her... But the incedent left her with PTSD... she cant be around any dogs bigger than her.

She was then adopted out to a family with childrean where she lived for about six months. But when the baby started being a toddler she got fearful again.... She was turned back into the shelter... All of it ... so sad...

I hope shes found the perfect home. We are all fairly quiet and undemanding except for the basics.... Dean wants to take her hiking....

For now We are just letting her be... Investigate the yard.... House.... learn the routines... We made a comfortable nest for her in a quite part of the dining room and she spent the night there... Dean and I spend most our time in that room.

I will post pictures as soon as we take some.

So, we think the Princess got food poisoning from a McDonald's fish sandwich on Sat. Since Sun. she's been better - reduced appetite and bowel problems, but no vomiting. Last night apparently things escalated and while she was on the 'throne', she fainted. Holy crap ! She did not hurt herself (only her dignity) and we have an appointment with our doctor this afternoon. I believe she was dehydrated so I went out and got some Gator-ade, and right now she feels okay - even ate some toast. I hate having to be the grown up.

Wonderful!!!! Once she gets settled, definitely let him take her hicking. She'll bond with him and won't let him out of her sight and protect him. Our ES belongs to or 17 yr old son, or in truth, he belongs to her.
Enjoy her!

Armondo and Marshmallow say hi.
