Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

It's a different type of useful.....I felt a big connection to my fellow citizens when I feel like I was helping protect them....I really miss watching B52's in action.... They are an awesome machine..... Most deadly weapon ever built..... Big and powerful.
Shouldn't even be able to fly but the crew chief used to say..... Put 8 turbo fan engines on s brick and it'll fly....
Used to see the B52's flying out of Dyess all the time then they replaced them here with the B1's. I miss seeing the 52's

First husband was army...We were stationed at Fort Bragg, he spent a year in Saudi, gulf war. Being the wife I was in a totally different situation as you Phil, but I remember the aircraft coming and going. And being around them when they were grounded, getting to go in and look around. They are amazing machines!

What's the point of eating fish if it doesn't taste like fish? I've never cooked bass that wasn't good. White flaky meat. Cat can taste muddy for sure. A good soaking and proper cleaning makes it good to me. If you don't wanna taste fish you might as well just eat chicken lol!
Good morning Ralphy:hugs
I quit eating Bass that come from non-moving water, like a pond....the flesh is mushy. River-caught Bass is a different story.

I keep Red Cell in stock, so am good on vitamin supplements... I also keep copper sulfate as well, I add a little to the waterers as it prohibits algae growth/antimicrobial, etc... dunno if that will be ok for them or not though, will find out... and will ask about the baking soda as well...

Find out...maybe by calling your extention agent, if your area has lots of natural copper or not.

View attachment 1105742 blueberries are out this year in full force.....

Those look great.

Ours are only about halfway ripe. As in each berry is only halfway ripe. We have had a pretty cold summer.

I find each kind of fish tastes different. ..but still like fish. Some are much stronger tasting that others.

@BantyChooks
You wanna know the worst part about going back to work? I have to put SHOES on! :hitIts terrible.

:hugs

I'm getting the distinct impression that you like salmon. :D What is spoon bread?

Salmon and halibut are the main fish up here. .. so they are what we usually eat....hum, maybe all we eat gish wise.

Spoon bread is like corn bread, but more moist. So, you need a spoon to serve it! :D You can moisten it up with anything really...but standard is you take your regular cornbread recipe (but I prefer using fine and corse cornmeal instead of cornmeal and wheat flour), then add any or all or some of the following:

Can of corn with some of the juice
Jalapeño juice
Cheese
Diced peppers of whatever variety
Extra butter

Caught up...
Fish
goats
feathered feet
non feathered feet

Phil I will pm you later after the day settles. Drs appointments and errands....

Good luck on the appointments!

Down to a single 55 flowery rooster, somehow the other one drown himself in a 55 gallon drum that was 3/4 full of water.

:hugs That is horrid. So sorry!

Please say you didn't catch turtles by "noodling". Those guys & gals can't possibly be playing with full decks

Not sure about their decks...

But clearly not with a full set of fingers. ;)

Nobody would be that stupid.

You don't get out much do you??

Ugh. So sorry! I just replaced one for a friend who lost hers in the heat. I have 3 - if only I were closer! Ooh, and in one of those three, just this morning I noticed there are some gold flecks on his feathers! Maybe...

Which is the color she wanted?

We had goats for a few years to clean out a "no-man's-land" on our property that was covered in poison oak. They did a great job... and then the mountain lion decided our little neighborhood was homey and full of deliciousness...

:barnie

I hear they'll eat just about anything.

:duc

Possibly easier than trying to get DW to munch on... oh deary me :th

On my right?
:smack

Well, it all started with a neighbor about a half mile away who decided to raise sheep. She must have purchased 100 or more, and gave little thought to their night time safety. Pretty soon, she had a resident mountain lion who was eating like a champ! So, when she finally figured out how to protect them, Mr. Lion was not about to leave this neck of the woods. We had a pretty secure structure of a wire pen (top, sides) which apparently does no good as protection if the little gate to get in to the structure is left open! Go figure.
So, Gertie was carried off into the night and devoured in another neighbor's front yard (i got the "Mom, on my way to work, there were vultures all over Miss Joanne's yard" - call from son). We ended up giving away the other goat (he was very attached) to a friend with the same breed. Now we just have chickens and a couple dogs and cats who have thus far not fallen victim to the same night burglar.

Glad all your other critters have stayed safely out of the predator's tummy!

:drool Whoa...that sounds incredible!!

You mean you don't want to spend your whole day reading that stuff?
I don't want to spend my whole day reading this stuff, either, but it seems to work out that way a lot, doesn't it? at least you can get a lot of good info on this and other sites, and talk to good people with a common interest, with a lot of fun tossed in....oh...and a few Canadians to pick on.

So that's all we're good for, eh? No wonder you kept me around so long. :hit
