Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Well. . it's an already 3 month old pup. It's an Aussie. The people had been selling them for 200 dollars but guess this one fell in love with d d when she went there to look at some other ones they had for free and the people ended up giving it to her :eek:I can't blame her it would have been hard to say no. She said she was so happy she cried.
That's cool...Can't blame her either... Maybe it'll be one of those easier to get forgiveness than permission things and the apartment manager will OK it.:fl

Hey Dan Just curious.... I have a cousin that raises goats... They shared pix some years back... Of a water tub turned on its side and filled with straw in the tub has about four babies napping.... Apparently the moms take their babies over to it and sort of tell em to take a nap here then they go off to graze...
Is that something yours do or something similar?:pop

deb

Yes, especially the first couple weeks the moms will hide the kids and go off to graze. As the kids get older, bigger, stronger and better able to keep up with the moms and flee from danger they'll start going with the moms more. Kind of the same thing that deer do with fawns.

was the house fire due to a wood stove?
Actually, no. From what the investigator from the insurance company figured out, (it burned to the ground so there wasn't much to work with) it was a power strip that was plugged into an outlet and sitting on the floor. He said that sometimes the cheaper ones short out and because they're plastic it's like pouring a gallon of gas on the floor and throwing in a lit match. So, apparently we had a flaming piece of plastic sitting on our carpeted floor, next to the wood-paneled wall. We were all asleep in the second story of our house at the time. By the time we all got out (three of five of us went out a window) the room the fire started in was fully engulfed. We had to drive to my mom's (about 3 miles by road, 1 1/2 as the crow flies) to call 911. When we came around the corner from our place to her road, we could see the glow. I give the fire dept. credit, though. We are 20 miles from town, the fire was in the middle of the night, and they were on scene in 27 minutes. I knew several of them from my years on the ambulance service in that town. Anyway, I think it was just the idea of anything that causes flame in our home wasn't appealing to him. (Although I do have a gas stove and oven) He even for the longest time would get agitated when I would have candles burning.

Sorry about you losing your home that way. Must have been horrid.
Thank you. At the time, it was terrifying to say the least. It's weird. It felt like it took forever to get us all out, although it was probably less than 2 minutes, and at the same time it all happened so fast... We lost everything we had, but in a way it was a blessing. It definitely reset our values. Since then, we've all had the philosophy that "stuff is stuff" and it's the people in our lives that count. My 3 sons have a bond that many siblings don't. And the kindness and generosity of our community... after 13 years, I can't begin to express our gratitude.
