Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Nope...he isn't that bad...which in some ways is the problem. ..since people think he is normal....

soooooooooo pointers?

See, I worry that my son's issues will make him anything but. -sigh-

He tends to have zero affect, which makes most people think that he is:
1. suicidal, or
2. extremely dangerous

Add to that the fact that...like in my first example...if he is tired he just puts his head down, or lies down...or whatever....without thinking through if it is a socially appropiate time for that or not. :Hu

I think he is getting better.... and he can be taught...it just it takes YEARS for some things to sink in, especially if he doesn't think it is important.

I just love the kid so much....and it kills me that people see him in such a negative light.

As to animals...yeah, he is great with animals...he also loves babies.
Let the animals be your tool to help teach him. Seems that have the ability to break through when no one else can... You're probably already doing that, but just in case... And just a thought.

not sure how the animals can teach him to not slump into a ball when bored.

My son Zack is ADHD, not even close I know. But I started noticing that when he would help me in the barn with the goats, if he got off task, which he did often, they would paw or nudge his leg. It would snap him back so to speak. So I began having him help me regularly and with specific consistent tasks. It turned into a behavior modification technique that helped his mind retrain to stay focused.
Just spend some time watching them watching and interacting with him. You may see something you haven't seen that will work.

Pointers? Shoot, I still need those, lol...

Seriously though, best thing is schedule and consistency...
His brain does not work in the same pathways as most others... some things are absolutely incomprehensible, not kidding... many will think he is just stubborn, and while he *may* be, a lot of it is simply that he can't see in that direction, per se...

It's super hard to explain, and unfortunately, most people tend to 'forget' quite quickly when it is explained to them... maybe need to come up with a reminder toy, like a rubber band on the wrist... give it a flick when he should be using social manners, when he gets tired have him flick it... get those tied together and it *might* help him trigger manners better... make sense?

@Alaskan not a rubber band, latex bracelet... can use multiple ones, different colors even... like this...

I have a couple reasons I wear this, lol... ;)

Yep, ya can legally own a gun but that's not my scene and the bribes to get registered etc are as insane as trying to anything properly here. Not sure what kinds. A very high profile person shot and killed a trespasser a few years go - went down for it - equally not my cup of tea :D
Not mine either. Wouldn't but you have to meet deadly force with deadly force. It's the only way to stay alive sometimes . As the population grows and more people struggle to even feed themselves . So will crime increase . And there are those with total disregard for human life . Guns are necessary. If it's them or me it's gonna be them I hope . :fl

Um....I had a premonition...

Haha. I actually had to look it up. I've considered changing my name on here, but haven't come up with anything better yet.

You'd be nearly mute!! Don't do that. The smuts funny.

Haha. That might be the first time that's been said about me...

I gave up trying to read it all. I kept falling asleep and dropping the phone on my face.
Well you got another mouth coming too . So better rest while you can :lau

Do the best you can all you can is all you can do . Your not alone there are thousands and thousands out there .How others perceive things to be doesn't matter . What matters is your child . I have had to deal with meltdowns in restaurants and have people call the police saying I was hitting my son in the face when all I was doing was holding his hands trying to keep him from biting himself or me . I have looked like I've been in a street fight more than once . I have been bitten on the forehead just trying to get him out of the truck to take him to the doctor . But yet their are still others that have it harder than me . Just keep doing and searching for help for him and answers . Sometimes there are no answers only the questions .Here we cry when we need to and do what needs doing. There is no give up or give in . Not the way I'm made . I would however give up my life if a part of me would make him able to survive alone in the world . Which he will never be able to do .

Cold ain't they :lau:lau:lau
