I'm not going to get politics here.... I'm just gonna say this as a veteran.
I'm glad I am not a football fan.
It breaks my heart to see the flag being disrespected.
Seriously twist my stomach......I also believe the players have a right.... Maybe even a responsibility to bring awareness to their cause....I just feel there is a million other ways to do it.

I fully agree. I think the people they're "protesting" for would be much better served by these people staying on their feet and going into the communities to whom they are trying to draw attention and working with the people. Maybe donate to a job service program, but more importantly, spend time rather than just throwing money at an organization. Help clean up neighborhoods, serve in a soup kitchen, work with at-risk youth. And not just once as a publicity stunt. Go in as a regular guy, and help. This would be so much more effective than disrespecting the flag and the veterans who have fought for their right to do so. (Getting off my soapbox now... )

That would happen for me on the first day....

I'm not even allowed to grow it. When DH was growing up, his mother would grow them to the size of a toddler, then boil them. That's the only way it was prepared.

So the Princess and I went to So. Jersey to an orchard, farm stand, bakery sort of place. After this morning's conversation I bought 6 varieties of squash. Lots of other vegetables, a cherry pie that I will consume within 24 hours, a pumpkin pie for the Princess that I will help with, a sugar icing frosted applesauce/raisin cake that I could eat in 12 hours (Princess put it in the freezer). We should be stocked with fresh stuff for the next couple of weeks.
