Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Good morning! One of my little AC chicks got herself out of the brooder and spent the night on the floor by the laundry room freezer. Thankfully she's almost 3 weeks old with plenty of feathers to keep her warm. She was just really hungry!
He's been MIA for a bit now...Hope everything is ok...:fl

Ewww...Had a yellow lab once that was like that...Ate the netting and padding off the trampoline in the back yard one day while we were out...That was a mess...
My favorite was when Zoomer tried to take a bite out of the electrical cord running out to the barn. He managed to unplug it and put small teeth marks in it - but after that he steered very clear of that cord!! I need to figure a way to electrify hoses... though water/electricity...Perhaps not the best combination!!

Probably wouldn't have to worry about Zoomer anymore. :idunno

Managed to get a decent doe to tip over about an hour ago. 35-40 yd. clear downhill broadside shot w/the xbow; ran about 50 yds or less.
Hit her high in the left shoulder; caught a lung. Never saw the 1st sign of blood on the ground, but she'd piled up pretty close to where I'd last seen her.
2nd one I've hit w/xbow; first I've been able to retrieve.

Tried to send a picture, but I can't get this new format to cooperate. Now the work begins.
Nice....
He comes and goes - I'm sure he's fine :)
Ah..Good to know...:)

Sorry,, it fell to the floor and jammed.

I still have 2 broodies (1 finally gave up), but nobody in that pen is laying, so they are just sitting on their feet. Let em be stubborn.

Coffee is, indeed, a gift.
Perhaps the pugs are growing up a bit? I keep waiting for my 7 year old pup to stop chewing things (could be breed - or lack thereof- he's bull terrier/kelpie. All our others - kelpie crosses of sorts- quit at about 5). As a running companion and chicken protector, he's worth his weight in gold - I just can't leave a hose out back or I may end up collecting strewn hose particles.

I had a yellow lab too. She tore up a Styrofoam archery target. You know, the big square ones covered in plastic. The neighbor said he kept seeing white stuff, he thought it was snowing in July, looked out the window and she was tossing it high into the air and pouncing on it. By the time I got home, it did look like snow in July. :lau

Fabulous!! Congrats. Hope you get the pic thing figured out!! I'd love to see it. Lung shot is excellent. Can't go far that way.
We made some jerky last night. :drool

So I'm going to do what I should have done last week.... ask for my pond friends' guidance. I took those ducks on a trade, on a total whim. I should have known better, should have taken the money, subtracted the chickens and been richer for it. I didn't do my research, nor did I ask anyone's advice (well, sorta Ravyn, but we know she can't be impartial about ducks, so no blame there!! hahaha)

I made the false assumption that these ducks would be at least partially somewhat tame. Wrong I was. I've now done more reading, and even the place where I assume she acquired the birds from, sells them to be released onto open waters, if you don't have an aviary. So I do feel comfortable that the birds will survive for some time. They might even hang around my area.

So.... I guess I kinda have 4 basic options:
1-Release the other 2 (female woodie, probable male teal) in hopes that they find their friends, or go on to make other friends?
2-Or do I try to acquire more?
3-Or just keep these 2 and try my luck at "semi-taming" them?
4-I could also try taking them to my farm pond and releasing them there.

I don't *want* to clip wings or pinion them.
