Theres been some really heart warming stories about people volunteering at the Del Mar fair evac center. Besides all the normal stuff, they have groups of people out there all night just petting the horses & talking softly to them to keep them calm. (cryin' my eyes out just thinking about it!) The local farmers market yesterday was a pretty sad affair.

During the cedar fires here in 2003 I managed to cash in my house here in town then pay cash for my house in the desert on eighteen acres.... No mortgage any more... It IS a wonderful feeling.
For those who dont know you can pay your house off in half the time simply by doubling your principal.... So if your mortgage is 1000 you are probably paying around 250 toward the house the rest is interest. If you can scrape up an extra 250 the price of leasing a car it will be paid off in half the time. ONce you get used to doing that extra bit you still can opt to pay the regular mortgage payment in a pinch.

Good advice! I always think of it as paying double the mortgage, which would not be doable.

I deleted all my quotes from that crap that went down Friday. I figure at this point its best not to rehash it, but I did take a moment to report them both for insulting & passing judgement on a member that was completely irrelevant to the OP. It probably wont help, but I had to do something. It was mean & judgmental & you do not deserve that Al.

I called my neighbor..... He needs me to do some welding in his plow.
And I was gonna put the door off my white truck on his plow truck cuz his doesn't open from the inside and the window doesn't work anymore.
He told me he still needed help with it but couldn't do much cuz he cut one of his fingers off with his table saw....... And his thumb is just hanging by a thread.
Has to get surgery.
I told him I could manage myself.....
