Me neither.....I would call in "fishing" but never sick.....I would make it to work no matter what..... But if I did call in sick they knew I was really sick.... Really sick. Cuz I was there type that came to work sick too. I didn't work close with people so I wasnt a germ spreader. You can appreciate this:
When I worked for IBM we ran payroll for the entire division, and when the schedules jumped the rails it was bad. I knew there was a bad storm coming overnight, so I planned to leave home early the next morning. I fought my way the 30 miles to work through ice & several inches of snow (pretty major for around here), and was only a minute or so late, but still there alone. Pretty soon the phone rang; it was the Supervisor. He said he was still at home, couldn't get out, and wasn't coming in. He lived right there in the same town that IBM was in, and drove a VW bug! I'd just come 30 miles in a rear wheel drive vehicle, and he couldn't make it across town in a go-anywhere VW bug!
Never once, in 21 years of working there, did I ever let bad weather keep me from going to work.
We bought those "My Pillow"s great pillows.....IMOMornin pond Prevaricators.... Kind of cold here as usual...
No coyotes last night...must be hunting somewhere else.
Bought a new pillow and slept very well...
deb
Phil same here... Came in late worked late rarely took a break except lunch. Worked till I was done most times... I remember one time I had to do the paper work for replacing a component... The component effected about a hundred other assemblies.. The engineer gave me a deadline of a week. I was done in eight hours No mistakes...Me neither.....I would call in "fishing" but never sick.....I would make it to work no matter what..... But if I did call in sick they knew I was really sick.... Really sick. Cuz I was there type that came to work sick too. I didn't work close with people so I wasnt a germ spreader.
Actually it was kinda funny.... They would ask me if I was alright if I showed up on time too....I worked for the same company for 25 years.... Showed up 20 minutes late every day.
But I never punched a time clock.....I worked flat rate...... Seldom took more than a few minutes lunch and often worked late.
So they never cared that I showed up late.....I was the head mechanic...... Shop foreman .....I let them know a few years ahead of time that my time was growing short cuz my body was giving up..... They still haven't found another me to replace me...... Okay enough paying myself in the back. But I was only doing it to explain how I got away with constant tardiness.
Realg good techs are hard to find.....
