Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

IM in the boonies and when I had my license yanked... (dont ask) my medical clinic had a volunteer driver to get me to appointments.... Thirty miles to the clinic. Then there is a Native American Taxi Service that will take you to the bus station about thirty miles more to the east than to the south. nearest town with a Pharmacy is forty miles east... A bus would take me there and back ....

so Yep it would be an ordeal... the year I moved to the desert they stopped running the bus to Jacumba... Still six or seven miles to there.... But that bus only ran once a week...

Lots of people just drive any way... Back roads and easements.... just to get to the bus station...

or have a friend and neighbor drive you.

Kinda like that here.. Except we have trees and cedar swamps instead of sand and cactus....... We now do have a pharmacy in Gwinn which is only 10 miles away. Before that Shopko in Marquette was the closest at 30 miles away.

Well I do live in the boonies...... But it's the VA. It's the policy of the VA. Everything else I can order online. Just opioids and occasionally I have to take a drug test when I order them.
To ensure in actually taking them and not selling them..... It's a pita but I do totally get it.
It does however suck for those of us that actually need pain killers to have any kind of quality of life.....I watch the news all the time worried cuz opioids get so demonized there are a lot of us out there that they are a helpful blessing.
The Nurse Practitioner told DW the other day that she qualifies for medical marijuana. DW flipped out; she's 71 and has never smoked more than 2 cigarettes in her life. Nurse insists that pills & patches are available so smoking isn't necessary.

Glad we had a lot of snow melt yesterday while it was nice..... But it's coming back today.
I got to get dressed and head out. Been up for four hours already and I'm still in my sweats....

Butter is better...... Bake cookies at low dose.
Kills pain without the buzz....... Unless she wants the buzz....:gig...... Then you use Local Yokals recipes......:lau:lau

So when E and I decide to do the desert portion of the PCT, is that near you?
PCT? I am acronymically Challenged.... My home is in The farthest south east corner of San Diego County... Well not exactly the farthest... But the portion that is at 3500 foot elevation.... Some Great running trails out there though. I have eighteen acres of Heaven.... Same approximate temperatures as San Diego without the humidity... The peaks and valleys are more dramatic. We do get snow in winter and have a few days of 100+ heat... But the people in El Centro pack up their horses for the summer and board up her to give them relief from their heat.

@orrpeople slapping my head.... Pacific Crest Trail...

Yes it starts in Campo which is about twenty miles from me. I have an online friend whos ex husband hiked it all the way to Alaska.... one summer at a time.

Som Really preetty country and some really scary stuff too. Campo isnt so Deserty... Higher elelvation more rain... There is a Train museum there .... History had a nexus in Campo years ago... Ranging from the Buffalo Soldiers to internment camp and Sprekles (from the sugar empire) Cargo was shipped through there heading toward the desert one way and from the ports of San Diego the other.... The train Tracks even dip into Mexico for quite a distance.

Butterfield stage rout went through there as well as Jacumba too. And if you saw the transition from The desert of El Centro to San Diego county youd be amazed that they could bring a stage through there at all.

If you come up let me know ... deb
