Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

My only experience with your weather was when we spent a couple weeks in the DC and Virginia areas. Yeah, humidity can really crank things up! I am thankful we don't get it, but then that also triggers our 5th season: smoke. Mountain wildfires start around July and don't really let up until almost October. We can get some really horrific air quality because we are surrounded on three sides by mountains.

Aww, I love your duckling pictures! Enjoy the sun! We are a bit overcast today, but it's pretty mild out. We are actually having spring this year (usually we skip it and go straight to summer) so I am not going to complain about mild temps! :)

Sounds like you're getting things figured out! Awesome! Sleep is such a good thing!
I'm hoping you have a good (albeit busy!) and productive day. :)

It's a darling picture! Sleeping chickies! I hope your sale goes well!

Just make sure not to forget & wear that mask into the bank; they tend to get a bit nervous :gig
I was watching an episode of Jimmy Houston's fishing show yesterday; he was in a marine museum somewhere, with fresh and salt water specimens, plus an angler's hall of fame. Pretty interesting. I was in a smaller one, strictly fresh water, a couple years ago in WI. Other than the mounts, the best part, imo, was the old outboards; some of them pretty wild.
The Midway is a bit bigger....:gig

Amen brother. :highfive:
I'm really going to try to NOT complain about the humidity this year, since this winter has been so horrid. I'm so over the cold.

Not a bad hatch at all! Congrats. Post some pics when you can.

Look, we actually have a little sun shining today.

Great color variety. What do the frosted ones turn into?

Hi Back from sleep study at six am.;/.. came away with a full face mask.. worked better for me.

Bipap too was so much better. I slept all night and didnt have to get up to Pee. Great dreams too. Cant wait for the analysis and to get my machine.

Oh and they gave me the mask that I slept in.

Today is busy. First psychologist in one town then Radiation in another town. Wont be free till after I am done with that.

OH and Today must be a nexus or something. Kid has a Job interview for the Midway Nautical museaum... He is so excited.
A paid spot to work with history... and the ability to meet and greet just about everyone that comes on board.

Hes very familiar with this kind of position having worked as a Volunteer at The Birch Aquarium for the past five years.

Ok off to make grandmas breakfast... then a shower to wash the electrode goo out of my hair.

excellent news for you and your kid!!! :ya

Here's the most compelling pro's & cons I read last night on transplanting baby chix. (I'm not including anything that didn't seem logical to begin with, like adding chicks of different ages or in broad daylight.) I don't know if these things are true or not. They're just the things that make me go, "Hmmmmmmmmmm?"

-Raising chicks alone is bad.
-Raising chicks alone is ok.
-Incubator chicks seek light for warmth, not the darkness under a broody.
-Broody raised chicks wont go to your broody, because its not the broody they bonded with at hatch.
-Broody will know its not her chick & will make her chick the priority.
-Keeping chicks under a heat lamp to keep them warm while waiting for it to get dark enough to sneak them under broody only encourages the "run to the light" theory.

Sigh! :idunno
Whether you get him friends or not, the chick will be fine.

Is it just me or is teaching an approx 9 year old to drive a riding lawn mower in shorts and barefeet a horrific idea?
It’s not something I would do or encourage...

I love Squirt!!!!

And yes, same kid... but still... :hmm
How did I miss that you found out who did that, and that it was a kid?? How did you know it was him?

Well, since it's technically morning, I will say Good Morning... and then try to go back to sleep. I let some stuff get under my skin yesterday, so my brain has been playing the "what if, shoulda, coulda" game - which is kind of like playing in a terrible Monopoly tournament; it just goes on, and on, and on, and. .
I hate it when my brain won’t let go of things! The “what ifs and woulda, coulda shouldas” can make a person crazy if you let them.

Great news for both you and the boy! Glad to hear it!

Hello, Pond!
I’ve been busy getting my coop ready the past couple of days, and in the process tore a muscle in my arm. Any kind of movement was painful. It’s slowly getting better.

DH didn’t pick up chicks today. The hatchery said it was too cold to ship them...
