Evening ponders!
I'll go back and catch up later but I just had to share this that was posted on the BYC FB page;
"Alright, only you guys will appreciate this story. Bare with me, it's worth it.
Its 530PM. I'm filling my feed bag for my run down to the coop for tomorrows fixings. I've got bag of feed in one hand, scooper in the other.
Pop out my back door, walk on down to my run, and unlatch the door, then latch it back with me inside (so nobody escapes lol) and I start throwing down feed for my chooks.
I have a bunch of water dishes scattered everywhere, bowls and waterers, whatever I could use to keep fresh water is all over the ground, most of the bowls upside down (because chickens cant live without knocking over EVERY SINGLE WATER DISH)
I'm used to it.
Until one of the upside down bowls.... MOVES.
Like Toy Story and the traffic cones, this bowl just picked itself up juuuuust enough to scurry across the ground and come to a stop again.
I'm thinking "OMG OMG OMG" like it's some killer rat or killer weasel or something that could hurt me or my chooks, so I throw a weight on the top to keep it from moving, and try to look through the side of the bowl to maybe see what it is.
Cant see anything through the mud and half opaque plastic, go figure.
I hatch up a plan to get a live trap, and maneuver the bowl with the creature into the trap and release it so I can see what it is. I run inside and grab a jacket, come back, carefully slide it under the bowl, and then tightly tie the jacket arms in a knot to keep whatever is in the bowl IN.
I pick it up gently, run to my garage where the trap is set, and as quickly as I could, I jammed that bowl/jacket/creature in the trap and slam the door down.
I'm thinking I've done caught something, weve got the 22 out just incase its evil.....
We reach in the cage, and gently pull back the jacket to uncover the bowl.....
And my idiot chicken "Little Grey" gently pokes her wet, mud covered head up and looks at us like "wtf mom let me out"
Boyfriends over here dying laughing, the chicken is fed up with my antics, and I've just had a mini stroke over here.... and my chicken is acting perfectly happy and content with herself like she didnt just jail herself under a bowl in below freezing temps.
Like I wasnt ready to pop a *&^ in her &%$, yall!!!
I gave her a small bath (mud everywhere) and blow dried her and then put her back outside IN the coop to cuddle up with her other chooks."
