Sorry friend.....Found out right before Christmas that my only brother has stage 4 lung cancer that has possibly spread to his spine & kidneys. He's diabetic, was/is a heavy drinker, drug user (not the sharpest knife in the drawer), & was already in the hospital for an infection that started in a toe & wouldn't heal. Toe was amputated, then the foot, & finally the leg, just below the knee. Survival rate beyond 5 years is 2% or less. He'll be 61 in February if he makes it that far.
Ewww.. no thanks..Safe travels to you, my friend! Thoughts and prayers for you and your family.
Glad you can leave the sled dogs at home.
Poor girl! (And poor you - it's hard to see our pets suffer.)
I'll trade ya! We're supposedly in for 2-4" more tomorrow into Monday, with 25-40 mph wind gusts and a "high" on Tues. of -14.
Yup.... Flammable gas....You should've seen me trying to hook up a 20# bottle to my propane heater; never thought about it being reverse threaded![]()
I am a fan of beards.... VBG.The beard must go. It comes between us...![]()
Those new boots I bought are nice and warm too....I think I probably won't need my Mickey mouse boots at all this winter....(I called them Mickey mouse boots for Whites....I usually call them bunny boots)And my fingers and toes! (Actually, I have nice warm boots, so my toes are fine.)
Can't do face masks or scarves. They make my glasses fog up, and I hate the wet, cold fabric on my face from me breathing into them. I was that kid that NEVER wore a scarf. Hats and mittens only when it was really cold out.

Really sucks..... But hey miracles happen every day...... But at the same time there is a reason they're called miracles.Weatherwise, I haven't a clue; haven't checked. I can't go for another 10 days, anyway; gotta have the stitches pulled from a melanoma removal on my shoulder.
It's right at 340 miles to Winston-Salem; little less than 6 hours. DW doesn't want me going alone. I wouldn't really be alone; I'd still have the lady who lives in my GPS. Our niece wants to go, but isn't sure when she can.
All that may be moot pretty soon. Radiation Oncologist laid it all on the table today. Spine, kidneys, lymph nodes all affected, & possibly the brain. Mass in the lung larger than first thought, making breathing difficult. They want to start radiation right away to reduce it some, to make it easier to breathe. Beyond that, there's nothing they can do other than radiation & chemo treatments to make him as comfortable as possible in the time he has left. He said it could be 2 weeks, 2 months, or 2 years.
Dang....Well, the pupper's eye procedure wasn't so successful after all. Everything looked good when the stitches (and button) came out last Saturday (as reported earlier) but it was like a slow motion train wreck since, I could tell by the end of the week something was going the wrong way, culminating in an emergency run this morning to our Vet. (I had planned last night on calling today to see if I could get her in on Monday but things changed quickly as soon I woke up). Poor baby. Great vet and staff, got to her as soon as possible. Two more serious emergencies (accidents) arrived ahead of us with only one vet. Reinforcements were called in. The pup developed Anterior Uveitis. The deep cataract is believed to be initially at fault, most likely causing (worse case scenario) a lens protein leak into the eye fluid. The pressure build up in the eye because of the AU caused the healed ulcerated cornea (the reason for the original surgery) to once again detach.Anyway, long story short, the sight in that eye is pretty much toast. AU is extremely painful so the goal now is to relieve the pain, head off any infection and reduce the pressure in the eye ball. The final result will either be blind in that eye but comfortable or the eye will need to be removed and then she will be comfortable. We should have a better handle on the final prognosis on Monday when we go back in to recheck the eye pressure.
Oh not me.... And I'm the kinda got who could really grow a beard....I have five o'clock shadow by noon.....I am a fan of beards.... VBG.
