Would spreading a little bit of chick feed here & there on the ground for the chicks to find on their own:idunnomaybe?
Little girl farmer standing with a bucket of feed grain and feeding a merry brood of small ...
Oh I don’t need to. I place the bowl down. Then Tassels flings it across the Chicken Palace so the contents is spilled. Then she shows the Littles how to dig for it.
Then, the moment I let them out of the Chicken Palace she takes the Littles outside the Palace leaving the feed for Pooh and Calypso to clean up.
And to attract rats. Ugh.

I saw the duckling, I did not bring it home. I'm not sure how old it is but it is over twice the size of my silkie chick who is almost 2 weeks old. I will not risk the safety of it. Betty has already modified a section of her coop for the duck. It has a rubber feed bin to use as a pool. She installed a heat light for it to keep it warm. It also had already trashed it's pool and it's section of the pen and needed cleaning twice by the afternoon. I physically cannot take on cleaning after a duckling right now. I will visit Howard the duck.

I am also proud of myself. I went 13 1/2 hours between the strong pain pills with only 1 tylenol in between. I was a little achy and sore but not terrible. The ice packs are still my friend. I also stayed awake for 8 hours before taking a nap and the brain fog lifted. I'm sure the doctor is right and I will need them on physical therapy days. I also know I do not like them, I prefer tylenol and ice packs and in truth a little pain right now is a good thing. It keeps me from doing something stupid with my arm.

I also think it is time to name the silkie chick. I now want to call it Ducky.

Glad you are on the mend.
I know you know this, but please, however much you hate the pain meds you must take them for PT days.
If you don’t then you won’t be able to push the PT to the extent you need and it will really risk your long term movement.
I have a friend who went light on the pills because they were afraid of addiction. Did all the PT visits but could never push as far as was needed. Never got full range of motion back.
Not trying to be alarmist but it is really important to be drugged up for PT.

You shouldn't keep just one Gucci... the integration into your huge main flock would be too intimidating without another Gucci or hatchmate for companionship. We always got 2 to 3 chicklets to grow together before flock integration. I know you got lots of birds so what's two more Gucci hatchmates to add... seriously:idunno? & as sad as it is to think about it... there is natural attrition soon to think about. Even w/ our Dana at 8 yrs we wonder how long we'll have her too?

Not to worry, by the time they are a week old they will be out full time with the flock, many of my ladies have been singlets - Betty, Laverne, Daisy, and others. Their brothers’ have been rehomed but the ladies were absorbed into the flock.

The babies here now have been out and about with Mr P’s gang and also the main gang since they were 3 days old. I find the earlier one gets them together the better they are 😊♥️
