Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Not yet, not intentionally anyway. Found a hen setting on a clutch under the milk room a few days ago, no idea how many she's on or how long she's been there and can't get to her.. She's safe and any chicks will be too but...:barnie
Hah! She's kick-starting your hatching program! Silly girls - they think they're the business management. :)

Hi Shadrach, I know we haven't been formally introduced, but I'd be interested to hear more symptoms your girl is experiencing. I'm definitely not the total chicken guru, but have had some interesting challenges with my birds over the years (some more 'interesting' than others, thanks birds). If you're interested in striking up a conversation, let me know.
Hello orrpeople, I'm Shadrach. Very pleased to meet you.
There, that's the formal introduction done.
I'm not exactly a total chicken guru either, but like yourself, I've had some interesting challenges as well.
I must admit, I'm not very well up on many of the health problems I see on the forums. In general the chickens here don't do 'sick', they do injured and dead. If I have any expertise it's in chicken behavior and injuries; I've been writing a book about it. Some of the stories and the challenges I've had to deal with can be found in the link in my signature.
I'll post an abbreviated version of whats going on with this young hen a bit later. any help would be gratefully received. She's just said she wants to lay an egg so I've taken her to her sisters nest where she's settled down hopefully to lay, much to her sisters annoyance.:p
She'll give me a shout when she's done.
I'll post later if you're around that would be great.

Still laying is a great thing! :)

It's barely dawn here - clear skies, very dry. Rain's forecasted for end of week. I'm heading out to do what bird 'business' I can, then run, then finish up.
Primary goal today is to have my first couple weeks lectures put together for the Children's Lit class - and, of course, to keep dealing with daughter. Sigh.
