Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Anyone have any advice on treating this?

I would soak a couple of more times and then start to gently peel that off. Use water as hot as is still comfortable with lots of Epsom salt... or just regular kosher salt. Hopefully you can get the scab soft enough so it peels off. Once the first pot of water cools down... put him in a new nice hot one... hopefully after the third soak it will peel.

With that big of a plug... have stuff ready to pack the wound, and wrap it up after so it stays clean. Lots of blood = steady pressure for a full ten minutes.

I would keep him in a crate or other small and very clean place... probably for a week.

Soak and clean every day for a week so more infection can work it's way out.

After a week of that...it should be good to let heal up.

Good morning!
Finals week, so only a couple more piles of crazy grading and I'm home free! :highfive:

I guess the biggest news that I haven't shared here is that we have a new 14 year old son! :eek:

Turns out that my hubby fathered a child, just a few months before we started dating, and the grandmother just got in touch with us a couple months ago. DNA says the boy is his, but I could tell from pictures, without a test! Anyway, we've spent some time with him already, he came over for a weekend with the 16-year old son, and they had a total blast. Couldn't have hoped for any better outcome. He got to meet all his siblings, nieces, nephews, etc... Its been a bit crazy, but surprisingly pleasant!

@perchie.girl when's the surgery?

Wow! That is so crazy!!! I want to make a joke about finding onesies big enough to fit a 14yr old, but I wont. ;) I'm so glad it seems to be working out ok & that you don't have to deal with the crazy mother. He is one lucky kid! :clap

Wow, just wow. My instant thought was, "What a lucky kid to have met you, ladder man, and the rest of the family."

x2. Exactly! :thumbsup

I would absolutely not be involved if she was. :D
Another fishing buddy, maybe. I've started going in the morning, before it gets hot; was there @ 7 this morning, & spent an hour feeding bait thieves. Biggest Crappie so far only 9.5", plus a few juvenile Bass.

That's great! :celebrate
If you're wanting more birds, that is...are you? :pop

Ive explained downsizing multiple times to the ducks... but they just dont agree with me so they're setting clutches where I can see them but can't get to the lil monsters.. :th:lau

:yesss::highfive:

Good morning Pond Peeps..:frow
I've tried that downsizing talk here..............they listened, had a meeting and at the time the spokesperson Harold said they didn't think it was their problem.:confused:

Awwww thank you dear. :hugs

Funny thing, the kid's mother was a total whack-job. Ladder man was smart to get away from her. But she is no longer in the picture. Even the boy wants nothing to do with her, the grandparents have raised him since birth. He just wanted to know who his dad is! (grandma had already tested "several" other men, if that tells you anything). The grandparents are wonderful people and we get along well with them too, so its been fun, so far.
I'm not sure I would deal with a situation like that terribly well.
Maybe I would surprise myself.........
