OK, I have a moment to breathe. Co-cook is feeling better and back in commission, as are kitchen helper and counselor. I strongly suggested director go in for a strep test. We’re awaiting results. Not letting him come back until Dr. gives the all clear. No more sick kids, either.

@chickisoup - Do we need to send you the roll of Pond bubble wrap? Hope you heal up soon.

Any of you all on ADHD meds?

The stuff eldest has been put on

I see improvement, but not as much as I would like.

I talked to kid's clinician last week... told me to realize that kid would need to live at home for at least a year... because improvement was going to be slow.



But the meeting I had with the clinician was good... because I have been accused of being too hands on with the boy... and was having huge mixed feelings about what I should be doing. I was second guessing myself etc.

Clinician said nope, my instincts were right on... I do have to treat the 20 year old as if he is 12 or 15....

So I went back to treating the young man like a boy. .. and he is working much better... definite improvement.

Luckily the kid really WANTS to improve. .. so is sweet about being treated like a kid. And he too can see that he works better when I keep the reins pretty tight.

All you can do is ask for the wisdom to know what the right thing to do is & the courage to actually do it.

My brother lives in Oregon - about 3 hours north of us - so Mom is going to be there a while, then with us a while; as long as she can stand the drive.
