Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Good morning fellow ponders

Very quiet on this end of the pond.
family has started a betting pool. Which ends first, the pandemic or the election. my money's on the virus.

Weather is still freaky warm here. Normal highs would be low 40's, we will be in the 60's til next Monday and then Tuesday it's supposed to snow. Is 2020 really over soon?

Getting lots done in this warm stuff. 15 jars of apple butter. Less than previous years but since I'm the only one here that eats it and there won't be any grandkids raiding my pantry for "their" winter supply this year, it should do. If I come across a good deal I still might do a case or two of apple sauce yet.
Think I mentioned before? that I bought a small battery powered chainsaw for trimming/pruning around the homestead. (Still making good use of my census paychecks) I Ordered it for myself since I'm the one that does the all landscaping chores but DH had to "test it out" for me. Once he discovered how light and gutsy the thing was I had a hard time getting it away from him long enough to get my fall trimming and pruning done! :gig
(Shhhh, don't tell him but I actually got it for him to use for cleaning up all the mess left behind by the loggers close to the house. I saw he wasn't able to wield his big gas saws like he used to and was killing himself with the loppers and hand saws but would say no if I said I wanted to buy it for him ;) ). I was finally able to get it away from him yesterday long enough to get pruning done on the few trees we have left in the "yard" area, dropped a couple of dead ones and attacked the overgrown witch hazel and lilac bushes threatening to swallow up our propane tank. I had sprung for a larger extra battery. Well worth the extra money (got a great deal going for one from another maker) I was able to cut non stop for over an hour, even on some stuff I was surprised it actually handled with ease (like the dead trees ) and never came close to running out of power. Today I'll replace a couple boards in the run gates and bit of painting I didn't get finished earlier in the fall and then, TADAH!!! My winter prep chores will be 100% done! :celebrate Take that 2020!

Thought I would share this in case anyone doubts how redneck Wisconsin can be. This was a real stop posted by our highway patrol this week. In our defense, this was NOT in northern Wisconsin so this kid could have been originally from Illinois. He had just bought the machine and wanted to show it off to a buddy. (BTW-the kid had bought the car 6 months prior and had not registered it yet either)

DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME: Our friends at the Wisconsin State Patrol stopped this vehicle Sunday on US 63 in Polk County because this isn’t a safe way to transport a snowmobile. If you’re transporting equipment this winter, you are advised to safely haul it secured on a trailer or in a truck.
