I forgot to mention - the hen that was broody in June is back at it again. I don’t think I’m going to let her set this time. I was thinking about Al’s question about egg quality. I get them from a neighbor and I’m pretty sure they free range with no calcium supplement. Plus, she’ll hatch while we’re gone and I don’t want my (no experience with chickens) house sitter to have to deal with a broody and chicks.

Speaking of broodies, my 3 porcelain d’uccle hens were sitting again. Last time they tried, they did a horrible job and lost all the chicks. I figured I’d give them another chance. So far, so good. Seven chicks with them, and there were 2 pipped still in the coop, so I hatched them in the incubator. Will give them to the girls tonight. Say a prayer they all make it.

Another damp and dreary day on my lily pad. Abscessed tooth is slowly resolving.

Ponders good morning one and all!

The temperature is 86 with the humidity setting at 69.

This makes for a very stuffy and close air and breathing is a problem.

I don't know if I will make it the pond and my lily pad today.

You’re drier than we are. We got a couple of 1” shots within the past few weeks. Enough to perk up the crops a little, but they’re showing some stress again. Several days of heat in the forecast, but no rain.

We may not see any till August they way they are talking here.. The two we keep rain in are dry now.
Next water bill will be out of this world ...

Yesterday we had 6-7" of rain in an hour and a half. Creeks that have not flooded since we have lived here flooded yesterday.
