Welcome to the Funny Farm!

He looks like a decent built sheltie feed his quality food that will help buy a carter brush ie slicker to start using now to get him acclimatized with being brushed
Thanks for the help. I will do as suggested, these sound like great ideas. I have a slicker brush for the cats that I’ll have to try on him. He’s a bit chunky and the vet recommended “solid gold” dog food as a good kibble for him. She suggested a diet as a possibility. He weighs 33 pounds right now. He was used to eating treats and table scraps at his old home. He also has quite a few bad teeth that the vet said might need pulled. He has quite the personality but is still really sweet and good with all my pets even the flock. He’s an oldie but a all around good dog.

Solid gold is older food but good one glad your vet suggested it.
Watch his teeth if you can get raw beef bones they will help his teeth..
If your vet wants to remove teeth try to save as many as possible ..
33 lbs is tad over weight feed him some pumpkin as a meal nothing with it.
Do you feed once or two times day make on meal pumpkin ... if feeding once a day
twice aweek one meal is pumpkin that will take weight off

I purchased the solid gold food and already have pumpkin on hand for the little kitten that had a rectal prolapse. I can definitely give him some. The vet did say he was overweight because she couldn’t feel his ribs and she said he felt like a sausage...:lau
I will definitely work on that. I’ve been trying to feed him twice a day but I don’t think he’s used to my home yet because he doesn’t take interest in the food. The vet said it was most likely because he is still getting used to his surroundings and is afraid. The vet said that his two canines in front bottom are bad. I don’t know how he’ll eat right without them. I’m kind of worried about that. She said she wouldn’t pull them yet but most likely they will need removed. I will try to get some raw beef bones and see if those help his teeth. Thanks again for your tips they’re very helpful. :)

Best part he has loving caring friend now .. I am glad you have him
Thanks so much I'm so glad to have him! He has such a sad story and his owner really didnt want to give him up. The husband died and the wife was moving and couldn't take him and his 10 year old brother. I tried to get his brother as well but for now he's on hold with the shelter for being diabetic. He's a wonderful dog and very loving. :love

Finally got a dog for the funny farm! Meet Pippin the eight year old male Sheltie!
I have a Sheltie too, his name is River, cause he fell into one as a pup! And it just stuck. He herds the chickens and people..sometimes much to their dismay ..😆

Aww! River is absolutely darling! Pippin already loves to herd the flock and myself. That’s funny how he got his name. When we were bringing Pippin home he fell in a hole! :lau
Is River a tricolor? Pippin is sable but his brother was a tricolor.:D

Ah gosh I am actually looking for lap dog again about 30 years ago I raised long coat chihuahua would like a lap dog that weighs less than me again but when the right one comes along I will
Lap dogs are very nice. I’ve always loved large dogs but something about Pippin just made me fall in love! I was really surprised I got to adopt him since there were five people in line behind me. He’s perfect and he came from a shelter that was really nice. Hopefully the right one will come along for you. I know I waited for the perfect dog and I finally found him! Wishing you luck in your search!
-Rachel :D
