Welcome to the game show "sex my ducks" ;)

Hmm…these are trickier than usual. I guess:

Bernice: Female
Quackie: Female
Onion: Male…possibly…or possibly not.

Do you have more pictures with all of them together? Is Onion bigger than the other two? Side by side comparisons are the best.

Once they’re a little older it’ll be much easier. Pretty soon, if you have any males, they’ll be twice the size of the females, and eventually they males will start hissing. Once they are adults, the males will have much larger caruncles, but that sign comes last since they don’t grow caruncles until they’re 4-6 months old (can’t remember for sure).

Thank you so much for your guess!!

As soon as I make lunch for my kids I'll go out and take some better photos for you. But yes, Onion has always been at least double the size of the other two scovies. I at first though maybe "he" was older than the other two. As he started to feather before them as well. But the other two have not caught up to "him".

Any guesses on what they would throw if onion was a male and "dated" the black pied and chocolate?

I hope these are more along the lines of what you were requesting

Extremely funny and entertaining post!! And now I get to show how little I know (again). I think just about every time I've guessed here on BYC, I've been wrong. You'd think I'd learn by now. :) We've got Muscovy so at least with that I stand half a chance (let's not break down the odds right now, I want to feel good about this)
Bernice has big feet but slender legs, I'm not going to hazard a guess cause I know I'll be wrong. And Muscovy drakes don't get a typical drake feather, that I know of or have seen. Fatty and Houdini would surely correct me if that was not the case. Quakie looks to be a very good looking young lady. And I'd guess the same for Onion. I'd say in the next month or two you'll definitely know, as the growth spurt will hit a drake and the cute twills of females and hissing of males becomes the common language.

Gee I hope I guessed right!! If not, it's back to the Price Is Right for me at lunch time!!!

PS - I have no earthly idea on your Pekin.... Not even how to spell it....

Females usually feather faster than males, so that makes it a bit more complicated. Actually, Onion might be a female, just possibly a little older. Maybe you should wait a couple more weeks.

If he IS a male, by the way, he will also mate the Pekin. If you then breed her, the offspring will be infertile if I remember right. But they’ll be good for meat.

I don’t have much experience with colors, so I don’t know what you’ll get by breeding Onion with the other two – if he’s a male.

And no, Muscovies do not get curly tail feathers, ever.

At least I think you can be pretty sure Quackie and Bernice are girls. Pretty soon you’ll know about Onion too.

All my ducks were born 3/1. Pollywog my female quacked at 5 weeks. They just turned 18 weeks old on Tuesday and I would say my drakes got their curled feather 2 weeks ago. Seemed like it took forever. To bad I need to rehome one of my drakes. The 2 to 1 ratio will turn out bad for my female.

Yup, only Mallard derived domestic ducks get the drake curl. I believe they normally start showing at about 3 months. But like all traits, that's only an average.
