Coons are everywhere, I live in the middle of a large city and constantly fight off these greedy, hungry scavengers. At first they just went for the food, then it was the eggs, now I'm fighting for my girls.Good Luck Hunting.

check out my original post...I added a picture of what I caught last night...this is the 4th one in about 10 days...all of them males...I wonder where the girls are hanging ou and when they are going to show up for "dinner."

...get rid of them all. Best of luck and hopefully you find the females before they find your chickens.

Times like these I am glad i live in a tightly packed subdivision. I have dreams of living out on a piece of land and having all sorts of livestock. However after reading all these posts about foxes, snakes, possums and coon.... I am starting to have my doubts... I am a city girl no matter how much I try to deny it.

Good luck getting rid of your chicken predators

I had no problems for years. Then this past spring one raccoon family got 5 of my birds in 1 night! Yes 5!!!!! I now lock them up at night. I got relaxed on my locking them up and lost 1 more hen this past week. *sigh* I am out in the country so trying to eliminate them is kinda a waste of time. There will just be another one to take the dead one's place. So, I am fixing my weaknesses along the run and locking up my girls at night. My kids are out in the yard during the day, so the wildlife stays away while the sun is up. Dang predators!!!
