Well broody hen got some eggs....

I think you are right - she isn't ready for being a momma if she is breaking the eggs. What we do for broody hens that we haven't eggs for is we put them into a 'broody jail' for a few days. Basically this is a cage with wire bottom that is raised off the ground so she can't snuggle her belly down and keep that body temperature high. I put a roost in there so she can rest her feet from the wire (1/4 hardware cloth) and she has her own little food and water cups. Sometimes it takes a while to break them of the broodiness depending on how long they have been broody already. BUt usually 3 or 4 days will do it for my silkie cross

No treats for her when she is broody - only layer food for a while. Good luck
 
well so far just keeping her out of the nest boxes is working. I just have to go in there and keep an eye on here from time to time. This morning I found her in the box, I just turned the boxes around. I will turn them back late tonight for the Louise to lay her egg tomorrow.
