Well DH Is Mad

I don't keep night crowers either. My hubby did the same thing when I got rid of one of my Roos . why did you get rid of it ? He secretly likes them I know it .

I have one that crows at night , he is also not very friendly so he will very likely go this spring even though he is very pretty, good looking lakenvelder,my main roo is a not very handsome auracana ' but he is very gentle, no worry's if grand children , or neighbors come over. But maybe you can get him back. Must keep DH happy, or hand him a catalog and let him pick out another roo there are so many handsome breeds

Mine do not crow at night as a rule... only if there is a reason. I have six and they are divided up 2 in each of my three coops. The only time I had trouble with constant crowing (during the day) was when I hatched some eggs and most turned out to be roos. All those little cockerels stating their manhood drove me nuts.. but even then it was during the day... Once the extras went to freezer camp everything settled down and is peaceful once again... I don't know if my hunch is correct but at least in my case I think I just had too much testosterone on my property at one time!!!!

Ditto. When a batch of meaties are starting to crow it gets very noisy around here, with LOTS of crowing at all hours. They are "talkin' trash" to the other boys to prove their manhood! After processing, things get fairly quiet at night again. Of course, my DH says it's because the "survivors" don't want to call attention to themselves!

I just didn't want him to get the others started. There is to many critters out at night and I can't stand the constant crowing of a young roo.

He's over it. He has realized that all is not lost and roosters are easy to come by but it is hard to find a white ameruacana.
