In the Brooder
Hi all. I've been visiting the forums here for the past couple of months as my Google searches kept bringing me back here. I currently do not have any chickens, nor am I permitted to have any where I live (small town borough with an old ordinance). I am very optimistic that I will be able to change both of those statements in the months to come.
I'm not sure why, or what sparked an interest in me about chickens, but something did a few months ago. I remember my great grandparents always had them on their farm, and even as a young 6 or 7 year old, I knew to stay away from that old rooster. LOL. I hadn't really thought about chickens much since then. Now, I'm doing internet searches, watching videos, looking at other city's laws/regulations, or reading about chickens whenever I have free time. I've become fascinated, and only hope that with good knowledge, a good plan, and time, I can persuade my local community to either 1. Change their ordinances, or 2. Allow me a permit to keep chickens on a trial basis. I'm not looking to start a farm, but would love to have about 4 backyard chickens (2 barred rock, 2 buff orpington).
When I'm not learning about chickens, I spend time with my wife and son. I work in the IT field, so hobbies that get me out doors and involve some of the "simpler" things in life really please me. I've got a dog "Carna", a cat "Squeaker", a bearded dragon "Lightning" and a ball python "Lexi". I also enjoy growing and raising bonsai trees.
Here's to hoping I have a chicken-filled future!!
