I like the old natural look, I would put a seal on it like TurkeyMountainChickens suggested and just let it look 'old and rustic' I very much love the rustic clapboard look. I plan to make me another coop like that (I used to have one where I previously lived)

I have a similar pen its 3 by 5 and thought of attaching it to an old dog house but then I found a crate that a new motor came in so I will be using that for the coop! I will use this as my banty coop!

Well I guess I am going to add a little stain and sealant to it since everyone likes the look of the boards I used. Thanks for your input. I will post more pictures when it is done.

I think the stain will be nice. We built a similar one from pallet wood but the boards run horizontally instead of vertically. I love the rustic look. I am going to stain mine too but not sure if I will do a redwood color or a honey pine type of color. Mine is a roo bachelor pad lol.

Just one suggestion(from my bad experiences with coons) Wrap some heavier fencing around the outside of your chicken wire. Make sure nothing can dig under or squeeze in between the top of the wire & the frame.
