I had this beautiful silver guinea that refused to sleep in the chicken house. All the rest of the guineas sleep in there but she would not go in!! When I went to let the chickens out this morning she wasn't waiting at the door like usual and sure enough one of the dogs found a large pile of silver feathers. Whatever it was that got her didn't leave anything behind but a pile of feathers.

I knew it was only a matter of time...we have way too many predators here for her to last very long outside at night. I hate that we lost her but I knew it was coming.

At least the other 7 roost inside at night so they should be OK.

A silver guinea fowl ? Wow, could you put up a pic of one of them ?
I have Lavender, Purple and White Guinea fowl. I really like these birds. I have introduced them to the flock two by two. They all come in to roost at night which I am very happy about. What really is amazing is the different colors stick together. The four purples are always together. The 4 lavenders the same and the two white ones sometimes run with the lavenders.

Thanks everyone for the kind words...I appreciate it!!!

rimshoes...

I looked her up on the net and she was a lavender...she looked silver to me. I'm afraid this is the only picture I have of her and it was her butt sticking in the frame of another picture. Poor little girl...I should have taken her picture.
