Well, it was a mistake....buying grown egg layers....

I bought 3 grown ones off of Craig's list as well on June 1st... I just didn't want to deal with babies and I wanted to be SURE I got hens, because roosters are not allowed in city limits (plus they don't lay eggs!!

Pearl has "rooster back" looks pretty ratty, but she has laid 6 eggs so far, Dorothy has laid 2, and Mildred hasn't laid at all yet.
I just figure different breeds and different temperaments means they'll have different periods of adjustment.
Pearl is also the one who allows the closest interaction, I also figure she is just grateful to be away from that randy rooster!!!

We adopted hens once from a lady who was going into foreclosure. They were molting and looked terrible... Ours at the time were molting too, so we were getting hardly any eggs. We thought we made a mistake. But after TLC and letting the hens be real hens they began to thrive. They are all healthy and one is a broody hen right now on a nest!

Just wanted to say thanks everyone that replied and the new hens are doing good, still not laying real well like my last flock but I'll be patient and of course loving...they are all integrated and doing very well!! will post some pic's
