After several weeks of being mixed together with my older chickens, the youngsters (23 weeks and 18 weeks) were moved into the big coop. I had a smaller one they were staying in since chicks, and I finally decided to paint both coops Saturday. My husband said you might as well mix them together before it gets cold weather. So I closed off the little one and of course they paced out front of it trying to figure out what to do. Every night they would walk up the plank to the big coop to get food but then they would come back out and go into their little one to sleep. When 2 of them went in we shut the door before they could come out and then put the other 2 in and shut the door for the night. My 2 little EE flew up on the roost immediately with the adults! The 23 week olds were in the corner. So Sunday night and last night I go out there to see if they are going to need help finding where to go and they were all inside by themselves!! No need to even shut the door. Of course I shut the door to the run so they would be safe, but we don't shut the little small door so they can come outside in the mornings to the run. I'm just so happy they did so well! Now if they would only lay some eggs............................
