well the cold got my silkie

Nope other side of the state. The DW is putting them in a big plastic dog crate then in the garage so that should work.

I'm so sorry about your silkie.

I didn't even let mine outside today either. To cold and RAINY, to boot! I agree, I don't think that these birds are very cold weather hardy.

They can take a lot of cold - if it's dry cold and they are out of the wind.

Mine do OK here in Idaho without a heat lamp as long as they can be dry. Wet and windy will kill them. Sorry you lost your bird.

I think it might have been from something else, florida doesn't get as cold as we do up here in Nebraska, and I have four bantam's (Mille Fleurs) going through their 3rd winter, without a heat lamp or anything else.

Sorry you lost your Silkie, but I would guess it was another cause of death unless you had them sleeping outside in damp windy conditions with no shelter.

They are under shelter, but it is SNOWING in parts of Florida right now. Making small little snowmen. It is a breezy/wet 29 degrees tonight.

I live near Brooksville, and my silkies are fine in the cold weather. It was mid twenties here for a few nights, and they were fine.

If you're going to that swap, you can certainly find someone who wants them
