I heard the latest is "illegal" fireworks. But, then again, people have been shooting off fireworks for hundreds of years and I don't seem to remember hearing about something like this happening. It must have been an unusually large flock hanging out in the wrong area at the wrong time. I feel bad for those little killdeer chicks that hatched right during the firework show at the lake (and their parents, too).
