We bought a house in the country built in 2007 and have a well and I use to water my plants and yard. We were told when we bought the house we had to switch to Missouri American Water. But when they came to turn it on the guy that worked for the water company said our well was fine and that the state was just condemning wells so everyone would have to switch over and not get free water. I use so much water for my ducks pools and I also like to let the sprinkler run bc they have a hill the water runs down and they love to dig bugs that come up out of the dirt from it. Does anyone have an opinion whether I should chance switching the hose to the well or keep it as it is on city water? Although it doesn’t mean much there is no odor that comes from the well water and it runs clear.

Ducks have adapted to many impurities from drinking water in natural environments. If the previous folks used the well for drinking and bathing, and there's nothing that's affected your ground water, good enough for ducks. Not that hard to get it tested. Inform whoever tests that you're not drinking it as the standard for healthy would be much higher than for your use.

Since your well is not your drinking water anymore, the ducks don't mind if it's hard or even high in something as they drink out of mud puddles, stagnant ponds, etc.

This is a test we buy for our well, but I think you could get by with one much cheaper just to check for bacteria. That you fill up a test tube with their test stuff and let it sit for a day. That would be my only concern really.

Have the well water tested so you know.
We had our well water tested before we purchased our home. It was good on all the very negative impurities. But I’m not sure if high mineral content is okay for our chickens. I know their systems are very sensitive to heavy mineral content. We don’t use our well water for our own drinking water other than water we use for boiling for cooking. And it’s very well filtered at that point. We have our main silt filter, after that the softener system filter, after that a whole-home 3-stage filtration system, after that a three stage drinking water filtration system under our sink.
But the water I use for the chickens is straight from the well. It’s not filtered at all because we did not want softened water for our garden or our chickens… too much salt.
I’m curious if anyone here has purchased a filter for their chicken coop water, using their well water.
I plan on setting up a rain water catch system, but have not done that yet.

I want to use the coop roof to set up the rain catch system. I have one 55 gal barrel so far. I plan on getting at least one more & set up a gutter system with a filter for the leaves etc.
