Well we got our first eggs!!

June 29 my chickens turned 17 weeks, and I got my 1st egg! It was a double yolk! I have now gotten 4 eggs from different hens. I do not know which ones laid them, I have 24 hens. Speckled sussex, Dominique, Ameraucana, Jersey Giants, Black Astralorps, Buff Orpingtons, White cochin, & Partridge Rocks One of the eggs was from an ameraucana! Out of the 4 eggs I got 2 double yolks. The eggs are small now, but the quality is unreal!! Dark orange yolk that stand up nice!! This is so exciting! I am like a kid at Christmas! I haven't had chickens for many years. It is so nice to have them again!!!!

It must be amazing to find eggs!! And especially a double yolker!

I build nest boxes and put ceramic brown eggs in 6 of the boxes. (I had to x them to know that they were fake!) They can peck them and see that they are no good for eating and also where to lay their eggs!! Here is a pic of my americana hen ''Hennie''
