Wellsummer? Light brown leghorn? Neither?

So here he is! Yes, a roo. We think he's proven himself to be a red jungle fowl, based on his colors, including the legs, his tail shape, and his truncated crowing (Cock-a-doo!)
OR, of course he may be a mix.

Whatever the case, he's really sweet so far (hope that doesn't change), & of course, he's gorgeous.
Thanks again for all the input.

I would not call him a Jungle Fowl, even though he is very handsome, at least not pure. True jungle fowl are very flighty and wild and will not stay in your yard. Post a video of his crow. I would like to see it.

To add, one thing that will be telling is if he goes into a eclipse molt, loosing all of his male specific feathering. He is a nice looking bird.

I would say the same as you. After being on this website for some time, I've come to realize that when some people say red junglefowl, they might be referring to the "look-a-like" red junglefowl breed, like those advertised in hatcheries (for example cackle hatchery), and not the red junglefowl species. And on the other hand, woe to those who think that the hatchery birds are the real species.

Well we kind of assumed he is not the species, but rather a chicken breed lookin much like it. He has been handled extensively since a few days old, so he isn't wild, for sure. But he really does like getting up higher than any bird we've had before (see photo of him 2 feet from the end of our roof on the deck lattice.)
So if not jungle fowl, what would you say? Light brown leghorn mix?
I'll post a video in a few minutes also. Thanks once again for your input.
