I hatched five Welsh Harlequins yesterday, and I've been trying to figure out the sexes ever since. It's possible I've got all five males, or I've got a line that doesn't have that beak coloring trait, or I just don't know what I'm doing.

Ducks #3 and #4 have obviously dark beaks, but the others are all still pretty dark or greyish. None of the pink/tan coloring I see on females in other WH sexing posts.

Any thoughts?

Hard to say. To me your best chance for female is the last one. Because the tip of the bill looks pretty dark. By bill color though they all look drakeish. Do you know where your lines come from? If they are hatchery stock they may not sex true by bill color. I got a drake from very good lines and breeding him for the first time this year. Last year some females hatched with my old drake where kind of dark. This time the boys bills are very dark and the girls are very light. I can also vent sex to be certain. Raise them up and see what you get.

I know this post is a year old but I’m curious how your duckies turned out. I also just hatched out 4 all with dark beaks. What are the chances? Well, I guess it’s possible…
