Nebraskagirl, it looks in the picture as if your drake has a green head, which would make him a silver. The gold drakes have more of a brown color on their heads. Here are pictures of two of my drakes, one a silver and one a gold. The first one is the gold - you can see that his head is a darker color.
This second picture is one of my silver drakes. He was fussing at somebody, which is why he is standing up so straight. The silvers have heads that are a beautiful dark bottle green.
Yes, you could wind up with some golds and some silvers. I only kept my silver drake, and three of my ducks are silvers and one duck is a gold. They have just started to lay (well, two of them have), and their eggs are delicious!!THANK YOU for explaining the difference to me. I have been googling that forever and couldn't find a definitive answerYes, our drake does have a green head so that makes him a silver then. Our girl is a golden. If they have babies, I could then have silvers and golden I take it?
Love the silvers.
We just lost our drake a few months back.
Coyote visited during day when our dog was in the house.
Someone please put a dozen eggs for sale on the classified.
We need more WH.!!!!!!!!

That's great to hear! I was so excited to get my first egg I took a picture of it and emailed it to all my family and friends. I know they think I'm nuts!! My brother's 10-yr-old triplets thought it was cool, though. My Welsh girl laid her first ever egg yesterday
I am so excited. She has been building a nest inside her duck box she shares with our drake. It is just the two of them. I am hoping for some babies in the future!![]()
