Welsh Harlequin Having problems

One thing that seems to help injured legs in ducks is to be sure she has some bathing time every day to take the weight off of it and let her exercise it without stress. Swimming is so good for ducks! Good luck, I don't have much else to offer.

She just had a bath. It did help her stand and walk some. I'm guessing it's just really sore. I'm hopeful that it will heal. I also just realized that she is very little compared to the others. I wonder what that is about.

Often I get one that is a bit slower growing- sometimes I can pick them from hatch from being from a smaller egg. At four weeks she is growing very rapidly- and even though she wasnt showing the tell tale sign of being bow legged when niacin deficient- she may still just be lacking in some dietary requirements due the the rapid speed of her growth. Putting a vitamin supplement in the water will help to give all the ducklings a boost- but especially the little one. Being smaller it would have been easy for her to sustain a minor injury from the others when they run around the brooder.

Some extra one on one time with your little one that includes a swim, cuddle and some extra food would most likely help her along as well.

She's still not walking well, but it standing better and her legs are less turned in. I'll see if I can find a vitamin booster for all of them.

I'm assuming it was an injury at this point if she is able to put more weight on it after just 8 hours, but vitamins can't hurt.

My muscovy drake injured his leg when he jumped from the stock tank turned swimming hole instead of using the ramp, He has been limping for several months, at one point hardly walking at all, I started using Nutri Drench in the water for him and also for the molting they were all going through, he is still limping but it's very minor now, I ordered the Nuitri Drench , but I noticed that TSC carries it so maybe you can pick some up. It's great stuff.

It's getting worse, not better. She can get food and water but she drags herself around if she moves at all.

That other leg has just gone completely limp.

At what point do I cull her? How can I possible do something like that? How could I let her live like that though?

Could be a back injury. I am so sorry she hasn't gotten better. Could she have eaten something that could have caused Botulism? something moldy or rotten? Maybe give her through the weekend to see if she starts to come out of it. Your decision though. Keep us updated please. Did you give her any vitamins for support?

Warning, cute video alert!

This is my lame duck. She has a ton of energy in the water but as you can see she only uses one leg. She curls the other one up (which leads me to believe it may not be completely paralyzed) but doesn't use it at all to swim. She seems to be feeling well. Any ideas on what to do if she doesn't ever get use of that leg?

How cute is that, it did look like she was putting it down a few times, Don't give up give her plenty of swim time in Warm water, good theraphy. and don't let her outside where she could get injured worse. I mean by outside like giving her the run of the place, she needs time to heal and swim time lots of good feed and vitamins for supportive care.

That's the plan for at lease a week. I couldn't get vitamins at a local feed store so I went to pet smart and got bird vitamins. It seems to have everything that something like nutridrench would have. She isn't drinking much, though. Everyone else goes outside today, she will get a place of honor in the main room, where I can keep an eye on her. Lots of swimming time.
