Welsh Harlequin x Muscovy?

Interesting. Would the offspring produce infertile eggs or no eggs at all?

This I am not sure of, as I have never cross bred the two, maybe someone with Scovies can tell you, I know someone one here has Scovies and reg. ducks that cross breed

I am definitely getting a pair of the WH. Since the muscovy's are supposed to be very quiet I was just thinking of adding a female to the group so I would get a few more eggs than what one female can provide without worrying about much added noise. My neighbors are pretty cool, but I am not sure how they will react if the female WH is too noisy.

Muscovys don't make much of any noise. My females do a very soft call to their ducklings and that is about the only time they make any noise.

So far my Dutch hook bills are very quiet for 'quack' ducks. I have nine of them. They are very mellow over all.

I used to have rouens and got rid of them because of the noise. I now have a runner and and some khakis. They are quieter and great layers. I also have a few Muscovy's and they are the quietest but aren't as good layers.

I got my pair today. So far they seem pretty quiet as long as I don't go anywhere near them. I am fine with that. As long as they are not making noise all day long I think I should be ok. One of the neighbors said something as soon as they saw them but I think I smoothed it over.

Do I need to clip their wings? Are WH even able to fly at all? I have a six foot privacy fence and they have about a 30' x 30' area to roam around.

A 6' fence should be able to keep them in. Mine fly like bricks

After picking them up for the first time that's kind of what I figured about the flying. They are a little ruffled from all the stress today, and the lighting on the pic is not great, but I am pretty happy with them. The males head is actually much more green than it looks in the pic. The female is a bit younger than the male and does not quite have all of her adult feathers.
