Welsh Harlequin

I ordered them from Metzer Farms. The whole minimum charge thing kind of sucked, but I understand it's necessary to add the heating pack when shipping so few birds. And I don't have the accommodations to keep a large number of birds, so I only got six and just paid the extra charge. I also paid the extra charge for sexing because I wanted a couple pairs of different breeds.
Oh @PotatoWaffles !! I feel bad for you, you must not have found efowl.com. Their minimum is 2 and they treat their birds better. They have a great guarantee, if any birds arrive dead, they will give u a new one... Metzer farm is in it for the money and nothing else. Go to instagram (if you have instagram) and type metzerfarm in the user search. Go to their post about the 2015 catalog and read what the customers say...

I have been very happy with my Metzer farm WH and their coustomer service was great. Also where does Efowl get their birds from? A lot of places get their ducks from Metzer and I believe Efowl is a middle man. There are a lot of people on here who have been happy with Metzer Farms and to me they seem to care as much as a hatchery can about their birds.

@needlessjunk I'm almost 100% sure you didn't read the instagram post before you commented that. efowl.com breeds there own ducks... And FYI go to metzer farm's website and go to the metzer farm videos watch the "Sexing ducklings..." and see how rough they are with their ducks, and read the comments a lot of people say they are rough with "the little ones"

Plus I said I feel bad for @PotatoWaffles because she/he had to pay that greedy 40$ charge just because she wanted 2 ducks... If she went to Murray Mcmurray or efowl she/he would have be able to get 2 ducks without a dumb 40$ on top of shipping.

I believe Murray McMurray uses Metzer to get their ducks and yes, there is the dumb surcharge with them. Almost all hatcheries have a min charge/small order charge and they all come out to about the same price. I have seen their sexing video and I don't see neglect. I also don't have Instagram. I'm not trying to argue just pointing out a different side. I personally have been happy with Metzer farms and would order from them again.

They do breed some but not all their own. So they could come from several different places. They also charge $50 shipping for small number of birds. Metzer charges $40 min and then less for shipping. All saying is that it is expensive when you only want a small number and it's about the same price no matter where you order from.

No, I didn't check out efowl before, but I wanted six ducklings total, so the cost would have been above the minimum anyway. But efowl does have Magpies (which I wanted as well), so they might be the place to order from if I want to add a couple to my flock in the future. Either way, I'm just excited for ducklings. I don't mind the cost, really. I just want more duckies =]

Yesterday I watched my three Welsh Harlequin hens figure out how to eat an egg. I remember when I first got birds I laughed with my mother, saying I bet it is impossible for a duck to eat eggs. They carried it into the water, cracked it on a rock, and ate the shell, letting the actual egg float downstream. It was weird.

Sory I didn't want to start an argument either... Hopefully we can still be friends
