Day 27, I went and had a look whilst Jemima out feeding. I saw a shattered hole in the side (about half an inch) of one of the eggshells and saw a little pink duckbill inside!!!

 

[Miss Lydia]

How awesome!! okay they take their sweet time. But hopefully by end of day you'll have a duckling. What about the other egg?

 

[Sambowling]

Nothing yet, but I will keep an eye on it. I guess Jemima will keep the duckling warm.

 

[Miss Lydia]

Yes she will, she should have all the mothering instincts. Just keep an eye on her being a new mama. Is the nest on the floor? always a chance of a duckling or chick falling out of a nest off the floor and not being able to get back to mama.

 

[Sambowling]

Yes she is quite safe. Jemima is back on eggs now

 

[Miss Lydia]

Can't wait to see those little things popping their heads out from under Jemima. be sure to have the camera ready.

I have been out to check the eggs and one egg was pushed aside with a Dead duck inside. I can hear the other egg clicking inside and I've taken it away from Jemima. I'm worried that maybe she damaged the other egg somehow and I'm not sure what to do with the last remaining egg. Is there anyway I can keep it warm inside the house I don't have an incubator

I am currently holding the against me with my hands over it

You should give it back to her. if the duck is dead she may have just removed it from under her, Was the shell open how did you know it was dead.
