My welsummer bantam is sitting on 5 of her eggs. I think they infertile as I candled them and there is nothing inside, despite the cockerel mating with her. I also put 2 duck eggs beside her and she pulled them under. It is day 12 for the duck eggs and I candled them yesterday and there is a growth and veins inside. Should I remove the dud hen eggs or will thus upset her. I don't want to risk the duck eggs. Thanks 🐣

Jemima is hunkered down low and very protective of her ducklings to be.

Thank you. I have inspected the dead duck a bit more today. It was quite gunky inside the egg and there was quite a lot of yolk at the end of the egg still attached to her. Such a shame, took her out of the egg and cleaned her up (I will bury her later). She was perfectly formed, not sure what went wrong here.

Baby won't need anything today feeding off of the yolk she absorbed. Tomorrow you can put out feed and water close by and mama can eat if she wants and show baby where it is. Put out something like this for mama and duckling that way baby can't climb

into it. Chick waterer will work too for first week.
