Fingers crossed! Have only had one Welsummer hatch so far, there’s one more but no sign of pipping or tapping. So far since last night...3 Lavender Araucanas, 1 Welsummer and an Indian Game/Welsummer cross has just pipped. This little chick though is full of energy so hoping it’s a girl and I get to keep itWait a few weeks. Way 2 early to tell yet. We need to see comb, wattles, and tail. If you have another chick to do a comparison with, we may be able to, but not very accurately. Hope its a girl!
I thought that initially. Not too concerned as I have a home sourced for any that definitely turn out cockerels but would’ve liked to have had a hen to keepJust ran out to get a pic and got caught in a massive downpour Here is what I got (it wasn’t the easiest lol!) Yeah I’m leaning towards that as well, will soon find out! And will keep you postedAt about four weeks the Welsummer boys start putting on black chest feathers where the hens stay salmon/tan. I'm leaning toward cockerel as well- but it's not 100% accurate as I experienced this spring!!
