(Update: After 4 days, mama and 7 ducklings are thriving! See the video below :))

Cinnamon, my broody Welsummer, finally has some fulfillment: I placed 7 Khaki Campbell eggs under her 27 days ago and now she is expecting the 7th duckling to emerge any time. I transferred Surrogate Cinnamon and her ducklings, plus the one pipped egg, into the brooder box about an hour ago. The eggs came from my son's small farm in Castle Rock, WA. His incubator hasn't had nearly the success rate as little Cinnamon! I'll post pix when she allows the little ones to come out to explore their new world.

Looking forward to seeing mom and brood when you get some pictures.

Hi all ~ Cinnamon had all the babies well tucked under her yesterday, and I am away from home today. Check back tomorrow, when I'll have the whole day to observe and snap pix!

Cinnamon is a Supermom! So far, I've counted six ducklings, and hope to spot all seven at once sometime today. They scamper under their mama when I approach the box, so when they are more accustomed to me I hope to count all 7.

All seven have now emerged and have been sighted. Cinnamon apparently has no idea that these aren't chickens! She's doing an excellent job. I don't know how long she will tolerate being in a box with her brood. Anyone have any experience with a similar situation? Advice is welcome! I plan to list the ducklings for sale--but don't want to remove them too soon.
