I thought GLW or Welsummer b/c I ordered that breed, plus EE's, & 1 Buff Orp. He's deffinately not an EE, or Orp. so I thought he had to be one of the other 2. I have 2 roo's that look exactly the same (like the one pictured). Unfortunately, I ordered from hatchery so who know's what I'll get. But how can they get that so wrong? I think my "GLW" hens (as the hatchery calls them) don't look quite like GLW's either. I will post some pics of them to get some opinions. Next time I will look for a breeder. I''m not raising them for show and they are wonderful regardless, we are excited to start getting eggs this summer!

The one perched is one I thought to be a GLW hen. Not sure what she is as I can't see her too well.

And I thought this girl was a welsummer. The photo above is a Golden Laced Wyandotte.

Here is a pic with more of my flock, I thought the darkest ones were the wyandotts and the rusty colored ones the GLW's please unconfuse me!![]()
The black ones with gold in the center of their feathers and flat rose combs are Golden Laced Wyandottes. The rusty brown ones could be your Welsummers if they have single combs, or could be different breeds altogether.

Does that help at all? Or do your other rust-colored birds look completely different than Welsummers?
