We are first time chick parents to a flock of various breeds (sexed) from a local farm/certified hatchery. Our Welsummer has me concerned that she may be a cockerel with this comb at only 2 1/2 weeks old. She has eyeliner markings and a defined V shaped on top of her head which I've read should be characteristic of pullets. The chest feathers have not come in yet. Her tail feathers have been slower to come in than the others. (We have 8 chicks total) She/He is sweet natured, not aggressive at all with the others and not any bigger than the others with the exception of the comb. Thank you for your comments. We have grown to love Rosie and would be heartbroken if we need to find a new home for her/him.

Thanks,
Becky

My welsummer girl had a bigger comb at that age. Wait for those chest feathers. You will know for sure then.
