I purchased three Welsummers from a local breeder. But what are these tufts? Are they just chick feathers that will fall out? I’m concerned I didn’t get what I asked for. Thoughts? Colors and leg colors seem correct.

I'm adding cream legbar roosters with dominicks, welsummers and brown leghorn hens. Some of the offspring will have tufts and others will not. None will be purebred but they'll lay a variety of colors (blue, green eggs ,brown speckled and white eggs) Yours is a mix similar to what I'll be breeding in a couple months.Easter eggers are good layers and popular.

If the legs of these pullets are white rather than yellow then they could be Altsteirers. That's a rare European breed offered by Greenfire Farms for a while. It's an off chance but I thought I would mention it as a possibility.
