Thats exactly my point. Everyone with Welsummers can say they are from Barber lines, whether a private breeder or a huge hatchery. So it really means nothing to say that.

I agree with you, Halo. Since I've been working on my Wellies for several years now, they are my line. No one elses. I don't think it matters much which stock I started with. But, so many other people do care, so I save that information for those folks.

I agree with all that you deserve recognition for your own lines. However, it is very intriguing heritage wise, to be able to truly trace the lineage Back to the origin for me...the same reason I grow all heirloom vegetables! I'm glad there is such interest in breeding rare & heritage breeds now! We are keeping the genetic diversity strong for chickens!
