Welsummers who has them?

We have a quad, we got them from Duane Urch. The eggs are a dark brown red color. The rooster is calm, the hens are nice, the only thing I didnt like about the roo is he has a large comb that got frost bite. The rooster isnt a mating addict like some roosters, the hens lay great. We should have eggs for sale soon, the hens are taking a spring break right now. We have pics on our site http://www.infinityheartfarm.com/

Thank you all, how rare are they?
I'm thinking I like them even more now that the roos and hens are over all good and calm.
I just need to get my husband to working on my new coop and then get me some eggs to hatch.

I agree with SpeckledHen

I'd say there would probably be differences in egg color between hatchery strains and breeder strains, surely. So, I think it could vary a great deal. Someone I know says her Marans lay an egg no darker than my Buff Orps lay, hatchery Marans they are.

I have had both Marans and Welsummers. I only have Welsummers now, My Marans laid an egg darker than any I have ever had but still not as dark as some Pis I have seen. My Wesummer eggs are darker that what i get from my production reds and Orpingtons. They lean toward a dark terracotta color but have lots of spots on them. Although they did shut down during our icy cold winter, my Welsummers were the last to stop laying and the first to start up again.

I have two pullet chicks coming from Ideal any minute!! Thanks for this post to get me through. I've checked for messages from DougD three times this morning hoping for news. I can't wait to get them. To those of you who posted pics, your birds are beautiful!
