I got 3 st run little welsummer nuggets and was wondering if there is any coloring sexing tips for this breed. I read that the v on their head and eyeliner is indicative of a female. Was wondering if anyone has experience with this method and if it is accurate. Thx!

thanks for the replies! Ill post my babies and see if my thinking is correct. I have wanted welsummers for a while. My hatchery didnt have them listed but i was surprised when i went and there they were, and only three left. Ive heard good things and love a good speckled egg so i took all of them! Sorry first picture went up twice and i am having a hard time getting the pictures posted. Their markings all look similar to that one though. Opinions?

I love my welsummers! My farm store doesn't sell them anymore I've had my three girls for almost 4 years now and are still laying eggs! I'd be very watchful if you do end up with a rooster though. As beautiful as he was we had to get rid of him because he started chasing after my son (2yrs old at the time) my dog (she's never gone after him) and I for no reason. We just assumed he was that protective of his ladies. Not sure if we just had bad luck with that or what.

Tried to get some better pictures. Would have preferred sunlight but its ice storming today so flash was all i could do. Sorry if some of them arent helpful.
