Aw! She is sweet looking! I hope she is smarter than mine, who can't seem to find her way out of the run when the door is opened.

She has her moments, but she has 3 siblings to follow lol.

Cockerels have black feathers of their chests. Females, like the one above, have salmon colored feathers on theirs.

Welsummers are autosexing, so you can tell at hatch. Pullets have darker eyeliner and very dark, distinct "Vs" on the top of their heads. Males are much lighter.

Mine is kinda dumb, too, and scared of everything! Poor little thing is bottom of the pecking order, which doesn't help. But she's so darn pretty!

I will add some pics after work today! I was almost sure they were autosexing at hatch, but not 100% (It was my first time incubating), so I just decided to keep them all for a while and see how they grow out.

I think Welsummers are among the most beautiful chickens - both male and female, honestly. I'm glad I have mine, even if she is a total spaz.

I can't figure out why I like Welsummer so much better than other breeds with the same pattern but yes they do seem so much more Beautiful when they are Welsummers.

Besides their ombre coloring, I love their yellow legs and upright posture!

I'll try to get a picture of one of my 'partridge' Welsummers. Maybe someone can tell me what it is. It's different feathering than a normal chest.
