went alittle overboard-164 chicks arrived today *pics*

Congrats girl! You have some ambition. For all of those who are sceptical about you, I had 300+ rabbits when I was 13-15. I did all of the work myself, and my wonderful mother footed the feed and supplies bill.

The only explanation I would have for these deaths is shipping stress. The only thing difference between these chicks and the countless others i have hatched is the fact that they were shipped. I have NEVER lost a chick before but then again I have never ordered chicks before.

WC good luck with your 166. I had my hands full with the 58 I had in the brooders at the same time. I learned one thing nevr never brood chicks in the spare bedroom again.lol I will never get that room clean. The dust is everywhere. Thankfully they are now in their coop.

Sorry to hear that. After a couple days when they should be okay from the shipping let the hatchery know how many you lost. Usually hatcheries will either replace the chicks or refund your money.

Wow. A sea of chicks! How cool is that!?!?

I don't know how you're brooding them, but if you separate them into several small groups, each with their own heat, food, and water, it would be easier to make sure each chick is getting what it needs. Some of the more timid chicks may not be getting everything they need if there are too many in one space.

Congrats on the huge flock! That could turn into quite the egg business! With enough customers, they could pay for themselves and then some.

I wish I could have done that when I was 12. Ton's of fun that makes money. Hmmm....profitable fun...there's a concept.

Best of luck.

Gee and I thought getting 21 for my first ever chick experience was alot.

geez, I have had mine for 8 days and they have like...tripled in size, I can't even fathom 166 of them.

I am in awe of you!:|

I would put some sugar and milk in the waterer... it will really help the chicks.... but you have to be certain that all of them are drinking... I can't even imagine 164 chicks! Woot.
